Kate Moss for Topshop

I'm not sure about you, but I've never been a fan of the Kate Moss for Topshop collections. Probably something to do with the fact that I've never been a huge fan of Kate Moss. Sure, I can appreciate that she's very successful at what she does but my idea of an idol is more than a mere clotheshorse. (Don't burn me at the stake!)

Dutifully though, I have a gander at the collection every time a new one comes along. As ever, the majority of the collection is, for me, unremarkable and overpriced; and some items wouldn't be out of place in Bon Marche! (I'm talking about this skirt in particular! I'm sorry, there is nothing right about that skirt!) However, and for the first time since the collaboration first took place and ditsy print floral tea dresses were hard to come by, a few items have caught my eye. They happen to tie in quite nicely with our new party wear headpieces, as well.

Winter winds...

Our second look for today keeps in with our running theme of all things Autumnal this week. This peter pan collar dress is a favourite amongst the blogersphere and with good cause; it's flattering cut and on-trend block colour can be worn a multitude of ways.

My penchant for a bird print continues with these gorgeous mossy green version of the aforementioned Flocking Birds Tights by Tights for Sore Eyes.

We showed you the Iron and Wine Bobby Pin Set yesterday...if you were wondering where they may fit in your wardrobe, I'm sure you'll agree that this is an easy yet chic way to wear them!

Tights for Sore Eyes

I first came across Tights For Sore Eyes on a Folksy browse and fell in love at first sight! Their quirky, tongue in cheek, hand-printed hosiery is perfect for the autumn months. Run by cousins Danni and Nikki Mc Williams, with backgrounds in fashion and fine art, Tights for Sore Eyes were featured in the Lu Flux SS11 show at London Fashion Week this September; so you know you're in good company wearing these! Check out Tights for Sore Eyes via their Blog, facebook, and Twitter pages.

Keeping warm can sometimes get a little monotonous; decent knitwear doesn't come cheap, so if you're like me you'll tend to gravitate towards more basic, block colours to ensure you get maximum wear out of them. But how to add interest to an outfit? Accessories, of course!

I've put together a range of looks here featuring Tights for Sore Eyes hoisery and Crown and Glory hair accessories. I think these ranges work particularly well together, alongside the block colours, as there is enough spaces between the items for them each to hold their own.

Further looks will be posted throughout the day; which will be your favourite?

WWWWT

My appreciation of swallows is long documented here at Crown and Glory but I think I'm yet to show you the new namesake Bobby Pin Set I created last week. It's already flying off the shelves, much to my delight.

The Crown and Glory Bobby Pin Set is a set of four hand drawn acrylic swallows, carefully attached to secure silvertone bobby pins. The swallows vary in size so a flying flock can pin up your up do. Why not order two sets for a dramatic effect? At a mere £5 a set it's an affordable way to add some runway chic to your barnet; as I'm sure you know, Swallows are the print du-jour at Miu Miu.

Whilst the swallows are drawn in a classic blue biro, if you require another colour I can see what I can do; please don't hesitate to email me at crownandglory@hotmail.com. In fact a rainbow selection of this little guys would look so cute on a drab day!

This week's What We Would Wear features this gorgeous Fearne Cotton for Very Bow and Bib Tunic. The a-line shape promises to be super flattering and the long sleeves are great for these chilly winter evenings. I've always admired Fearne's style like the rest of the population, but as a bigger girl with an ample chest her Very collection usually leaves me a little bit cold; the majority of her designs seems to be for the lythe only. I reckon this dress would flatter all figures though.

The nail varnish is by Ciate and cutely named 3am girl. I know the fashion rule books say navy and black shouldn't go but it is definitely one of my favourite colour combinations. The navy just pops against black and would definitely make you stand out amongst all the khaki hued fingers out there at the moment. Whilst £9 for a nail polish would usually be a little expensive in my book, Marie Claire were giving away a Ciate nail polish this month and I have to say I am incredibly impressed with the quality. The polish is even and fluid and dries beautifully glossy. I haven't used a topcoat and we're currently at day three with no chips! Definitely worth the money, if it isn't just for the cute little bow alone.

I've matched the bobby pins to these Topshop socks for a quirky twist to the outfit that would make Fearne proud.

oh, the dilemmas...

I just couldn't wait until Tuesday to show this week's outfit pick. I'm going to see my bestest friend this weekend and due to having £90 of sales this weekend (schwing!) I've decided I'm allowed a new outfit for when we hit Camberley next Friday night. But I have a few dilemmas...

I've admired these turban hair wraps for quite a while now but I worry that I'm too much of a mere mortal to pull one off. A quick trawl through lookbook has only confirmed my fears that only the lythe and long haired beauties in this world can probably wear them, but this £8 ASOS one is making me kind of want to go for it anyway? It's more like a wide knitted headband than a turban so it would definitely keep my ears warm from pub to pub. However, I do love these jersey turbans that all the uberchic fashionistas seem to swarm over. Perhaps it's a little more like a jersey headband, which is quite normal, and not ubercool as first thought, and thus perhaps actually more wearable than the ASOS one?

I would love to know your thoughts though?

This dress is Dorothy Perkins and I've been after a cream dress for a while; I've got a dirty brown leather biker jacket that is just crying out to toughen up something girly like this, and I would also do it with grey ribbed tights and brogues. I'm clicking buy as I type...

I think I've shown these M&S Limited Collection shoeboots before, but in grey. I can't afford both pairs, so might do a DIY for the black ones with some boots I already have and some gold studs. I do have *too many shoes*. But they are beautiful! The traumas of my life! The bag is by Max C London and it is my one staple clutch; I absolutely love it. I saw some girl with it in a pub about 18 months ago, and she claimed she'd bought it in Thailand. When I got home that night, I scoured the internet and it turned up on my first port of call; ASOS. Thailand, I think not! Why are some girls such bitches when someone compliments them on something they're wearing? I'd chat the ear off anyone who wanted to know where my things came from!

The Coney Island hairclip is from our new Crown&Glory Luxe collection, which consists of one of a kind items. You are guaranteed to be the only owner of this particular design. In fact, if this outfit does take place (and let's face it, this blog has just been me talking myself into it, hasn't it?) I might make a similar clip but with gold Swarovski's to offset the buckles of the shoes. I'd clip it onto the brim of the turban to add some interest to the black. Remember, if there are any of our clips that you'd like as a brooch, don't hesitate to ask!

Well, after all that hard work blogging I definitely think I deserve the outfit. I think we can call that a done deal!

What We Would Wear Wednesday

Today I did a little guilt-free shoe shopping. Guilt free! I know! When you own as many shoes as I, every usual footwear purchase is a remorseful one. However, today was different. I had an interview. A real life, grown up, must wear a suit jacket interview. I think it went quite well; I was invited to a second interview tomorrow, which I suppose is always a good start. However, on my departure, the lovely girl that showed me out made a comment that would leave most feminists reeling: ‘I love your flats, but most of the girls wear heels to the office’. The thing is, I am not exactly what you’d call a feminist. In fact, I’ve always flirted with the idea of having that sort of job where a pencil skirt and high heels are appropriate. Nonetheless, as a mere baby in this grown-up world, all of my high shoes are definitely not office-appropriate. Scuffed from falling over, stained from God-knows what, my heels are all marked from my days as a student; I bet the office glamour pusses could spot them a mile off.

So shop I did, and I found myself in Next. Usually I’d only enter the place if my mother was buying me bedding in the sale, I was pleasantly surprised by what they had to offer. Patent nude pumps (I’ll save for the Louboutin version, thanks), lace peep toes, and these beautiful stacked heel laceups. Suede; burgundy, mink and black. Very grown up, very comfortable, and oh so very me! Tomorrow I will sashay into that interview and blag the job over the girl in the too-short BHS suit. Pow!

I will be teaming it with an American Apparel high-waisted pencil skirt (seriously, if you don’t own one and aren’t cut like a twig, these things are a God-send), this chiffon pussybow blouse from New Look, my Andie Leaf Headband in Silver and my new good-luck charm, a gift from the lovely Wallpaper Rose.

If you could all keep every available appendage crossed for me for tomorrow, I would be forever greatful.

And if it works, and I do get the job, I'll be buying these BEAUTIFUL shoeboots from M&S....M&S! I know! Why didn't my mother show me the good bits of these shops a long time ago?!

WWWT: Swallows

If Mr Postman is kind tomorrow (unlikely), then this beautiful swallow-print blouse should be hitting my doorstep. I'd team it with skinny jeans, shiny shoes, Wallpaper Rose's Rapunzel Necklace and my own Rock n Blue Leaf Comb...and then shimmy out for a cocktail or 2. Simples!

What We Would Wear Tuesday

This week's installment of What We Would Wear treats you to two ways to wear one of my favourite new pieces, the Côtes du Rhône Floral Comb. I seem to have a mild severe obsession with florals at the moment, especially those that transcend from summer to autumn/winter. However, I am painfully aware that not everyone appreciates the feminine and whimsy, so the second outfit has been put together with a much tougher (more wareable?) look in mind.

The Côtes du Rhône Floral Comb is an ode to the colour du jour; wine. The colour palette for Autumn/Winter is traditionally of a much deeper, richer tone than of its' Spring/Summer counterparts and the colour on the radar at the moment is a deep, plum-y burgundy. It works brilliantly with navy and animal prints, and slots in very nicely with the ever-occuring trend of '60s beauty (think Bridgette Bardot inspired feline eyes and big bouffant hair). I've chosen a beautiful babydoll dress from Topshop, paired with some killer leopard heels and lashings of eyeliner. Meow!

For the second look, I've paired the Côtes du Rhône Floral Comb with items from the New Grunge trend. Grunge appears back in fashion almost as much as animal print, but this season sees a more baroque approach. This just proves that sequins and glitter needn't be WAG-tastic if you wear them the right way. The skirt is from River Island and has been all over the fashion lips since it appeared in the lookbook back in March. Team with some AA grey marl, a khaki vest, some studs, worker boots, and a scowl Kristen Stewart would be proud of.

What We Would Wear Tuesday; A/W Special

Like every other blogger in the universe at the moment, I'm getting pretty darn hyped about the A/W10 stuff that have started hitting the shops recently. But, as someone on extremely limited means (ie, unemployed) at the moment, it's also a bitter-sweet time as I know I can only drool over the lookbooks for the moment. And, although the weather has decided otherwise, it is definitely still Summer (until mid-September!) and so it's sometimes hard to find a transition; of course, we all want to look uber-in tune with the coming season, but having only owned S/S stuff for five minutes, it would be decidedly unethical to dump it all so quickly!

So I'm attempting to show you here how you can transition your summer staples and accessories for A/W. I've paired some gorgeous studded hardware (ubiquitous for A/W) with the Khaki/neutrals we saw so readily in summer (which, again, carries on very much through to next Spring) and girlies it all up with a beautiful corn-flower blue Orlaith headband from the new Peaseblossom Collection here at Crown&Glory. I've also included a pair of shearling lined boots; but instead of buying a new pair, I'll be jazzing up my biker boots from last A/W and lining them myself. The finishing touch is the gorgeous Rapunzel necklace by C&G favourites Wallpaper Rose, which adds a touch of 'Baroque n Roll' with its' beautiful Sapphire blue Swarovski heart-shaped pendent; the goldtone metals of the substantial chain and charm matches the studs from the belt and bag quite nicely (and wouldn't it be nice to own a studded 'Wang?!)
