“This is Wild Cat Island. We’ve been here years and years.”

Apologies for my absence of late, there just aren't enough hours in the day! Thankfully the shop has been uber busy in the run up to Christmas (anyone else starting to panic? I haven't got any of my wrapping sorted!) and I'm halfway through my eight week internship so have had to direct energies into that I'm afraid.

I couldn't wait to show you the new earrings we have in stock, made in collaboration with Wallpaper Rose. Born from a request from a mutual friend, the Flock Studs and Swallows and Amazons Drop Earrings are now available to buy online.

I'm so happy with how they turned out and they've instantly become a staple for the vast amount of navy I seem to be wearing! My favourite thing about them is that every pair is entirely unique, an ethic I feel quite strongly about for Crown and Glory. By the end of the week I'm hoping to have a gift set available, combing either set of earrings with the bobby pin set.

Diamonds and Guns...

I apologise in advance for the crappyness of these images. I don't know what is wrong with my camera but it appears to be giving up on me; after four years of loyal service I suppose it's about time! I'm going to have to curb my spending for a while to save up for a new one, which should be pretty easy as I learned the other day I've got an 8-week paid internship! The position is for a company that supply sources of renewable energy, and I am going to be the Head of Marketing; designing all advertisements around the products, writing press releases, being let loose on the website...I'm quite looking forward to it! It's going to be quite a challenge as the products are not something I'm particularly learned about, and I'll have to adopt an entirely new design style to grab the target audience, but it'll keep me busy at least! The position is 8 weeks long with the chance of more if it goes well. I'm looking forward to it, and hope Crown and Glory doesn't suffer as a result. I'll have to get into the habit of scheduling posts!

Anyway, I digress; the point of today's post is the showcase our new Diamonds and Guns Bobby Pin Set. The set is a little different from our usual whimsical, floral route, but I don't think variety is a bad thing! I like to mix-up my style a little, and am always wary of looking overtly 'girly'; for example, I wear my floral headpieces with denim shirts and studded shoes, lace with tough leather and chiffon with studs.

This bobby pin set is a definite testimony to the fact that I only make pieces from Crown and Glory that I'd wear myself; since creating these in the week, I haven't taken them off! I think they work particularly well with a soft, feminine, curly up-do! I'm hoping to get another shoot done while I'm in Newport this coming weekend so hopefully will be able to illustrate that point!

The set comprises of four secure, silvertone bobby pins that are topped with two silvertone pyramid studs and two multi-faceted Swarovski crystals. Four aren't enough to pin up my thick hair so I use six; let me know if you think you'd be the same and I'll sort out a set of six for you!

Kate Moss for Topshop

I'm not sure about you, but I've never been a fan of the Kate Moss for Topshop collections. Probably something to do with the fact that I've never been a huge fan of Kate Moss. Sure, I can appreciate that she's very successful at what she does but my idea of an idol is more than a mere clotheshorse. (Don't burn me at the stake!)

Dutifully though, I have a gander at the collection every time a new one comes along. As ever, the majority of the collection is, for me, unremarkable and overpriced; and some items wouldn't be out of place in Bon Marche! (I'm talking about this skirt in particular! I'm sorry, there is nothing right about that skirt!) However, and for the first time since the collaboration first took place and ditsy print floral tea dresses were hard to come by, a few items have caught my eye. They happen to tie in quite nicely with our new party wear headpieces, as well.

Beaded Waistband Dress, £80, Kate Moss for Topshop
Bronze Beauty Hairclips, £4, Crown and Glory
The Car Key Collection, £12, Models Own
English Oak Mirror Necklace, £27, Tatty Devine

Get The Look

Like it or loathe it, there's no escaping the X Factor train at the moment. I am definitely in camp like I'm afraid; as with my taste in literature, there is nothing cultured about my taste in television either. And for that I will not apologise; there is nothing I like more on a Saturday night, cuddled up with Mr Crown and Glory with a curry and a big bag of Haribo...bliss!

Until they started the live shows and were put through horrific styling week-to-week, the girls this year are a fashionable lot. Gone are the days of girl-next-door Leona types; this year is all about a fierce individuality and a playful nod to the trends.

Dodgy Madonna dress-up from her first audition aside, my favourite sartorial choice from this years' X Factor has to be Katie Waissel, and mainly because she's rarely seen without a headscarf or set of beads draped across her forehead. Predictable? Probably, but this is why I'm in the hair dress-up game after all!

I've picked an image from judge's houses for this weeks' Get The Look. Quite conveniently it ties in nicely with the launch of our new winter designs; the Moonlight Constellation Collection. Items will be focused around the blues and silvers associated with winter, and will have a luxe approach with feathers and multi coloured Swarovskis in preparation for the upcoming party season.
