Rosie, they ran rings around you

Welcome new followers! I'm assuming you've all come from Wallpaper Rose's Birthday Giveaway Spectacular - and if you haven't, make sure you go check it out! As well as lots of other (and far superior) crafty types, you can win one of our mint turbans in the grand main prize and an ink turban as part of the runner up prize.

Over the weekend, our brand new - look site launched - I really hope you like the results! Whilst we're aesthetically now a lot cleaner and sweeter, we've also made changes to our pricing - postage is now a standard flat rate of £1.49 for the UK, and £2.99 for the Rest of the World, making us one of the cheapest out there for postage. Over the coming weeks I'll be sure to get you some images of our new packaging as well - I'm trying to source some affordable embossed gift boxes (thinking ahead for Christmas, naturally) so if anyone has any ideas as to where to get these I'd be grateful for any links, Google isn't helping me on this occasion!

I've just finished off an amazing three day weekend with some lovely friends - and managed to nab one of them for a few modelled shots, showcasing some new pieces that are available on the site.

twist and fly

Flock headband, £10, Crown and Glory
Striped Peter Pan Top, £15.99, New Look
Pleat Skirt, £9.99, Zara
Tan Wedge Booties, £24.99, New Look
Leopard bag, £45, Topshop

I thought I'd show you some pieces I got in my little jaunt round the shops on Saturday! (For my fellow Frugal Feb-ers, I promise it really was last Saturday, Abbzz can vouch for that!)

The skirt made my heart-rate quicken a little when I saw it was now only £9.99. I'd been eyeing it up in black early on in the month but at £20 I wasn't so sure, especially as I seem to be gravitating away from black pieces at the moment. When I saw it in this gorgeous beige/tan colour, not only did it remind me of Brownie culottes (always a good thing) it was also a size down than at the beginning of the month! Hurrah! I'm not so hot on the belt, truth told, so will probably look to replace it with one I already own (I've got an oversized brown leather one somewhere) but love the way Zara have styled it online.

I'm forever on the search for the perfect striped top, and after a lot of deliberation as to whether or not thin or wide stripes are the most flattering, this one from New Look came in pretty close. I probably look like a string of sausages in it, but I care not. It is prettiful.

My booties are the standout from my shopping trip though, never have a pair of 4 inch heels been so comfortable! I wore them all day to work today, which includes a 40 minutes walk to and from work, and hardly a twinge! I had a lot of trouble deciding between the black, tan and cream, they're all so lovely!

Have you seen the newest addition to our Flock collection? Suggested by a crop-haired maiden, a double silvertone alice band place host to a flight of hand drawn, acrylic swallow charms.

Gypsy Woman

Woodstock Rocks; Bib Necklace/Headband £15

Since I posted a link to this on twitter on Sunday night I've been inundated with positive comments! Thankyou so much! I've love the idea of versatile headbands and am always on the lookout for the perfect OTT bib necklace so decided to combine the two! After I spent hours on Saturday designing and making my mock-up, I proudly trotted downstairs to show my wares and...well, to be frankly honest, it was met with blank stares from my boyfriend and parents. Anti-climax, much? Still, I'm a stubborn little bugger so thought I'd persevere.

I hope you like the outfit I've chosen to go with the necklace! I thought I'd diversify from the world of polyvore; but quite frankly, you don't need to be seeing my wobbly bits so laid out it is! I quite like it, I suppose it's not very creative but definitely mixes things up a bit. The tshirt was from Zara, the skirt George at Asda and the grey brogues from Asos.

This country is my canvas, I leave paint trails as I go

Romantic Fatigue

The Rust Bobby Pin Set is back! Apologies for the crapalous images, hopefully I'll be able to capture some clearer ones on my lunchbreak tomorrow. Anyway, the Rust Bobby Pin Set is was my most viewed product before I had to change the design; personally, I prefer this set as I love the intensity of the oranges but I'd love to know what you think!

“This is Wild Cat Island. We’ve been here years and years.”

Apologies for my absence of late, there just aren't enough hours in the day! Thankfully the shop has been uber busy in the run up to Christmas (anyone else starting to panic? I haven't got any of my wrapping sorted!) and I'm halfway through my eight week internship so have had to direct energies into that I'm afraid.

I couldn't wait to show you the new earrings we have in stock, made in collaboration with Wallpaper Rose. Born from a request from a mutual friend, the Flock Studs and Swallows and Amazons Drop Earrings are now available to buy online.

I'm so happy with how they turned out and they've instantly become a staple for the vast amount of navy I seem to be wearing! My favourite thing about them is that every pair is entirely unique, an ethic I feel quite strongly about for Crown and Glory. By the end of the week I'm hoping to have a gift set available, combing either set of earrings with the bobby pin set.

Diamonds and Guns...

I apologise in advance for the crappyness of these images. I don't know what is wrong with my camera but it appears to be giving up on me; after four years of loyal service I suppose it's about time! I'm going to have to curb my spending for a while to save up for a new one, which should be pretty easy as I learned the other day I've got an 8-week paid internship! The position is for a company that supply sources of renewable energy, and I am going to be the Head of Marketing; designing all advertisements around the products, writing press releases, being let loose on the website...I'm quite looking forward to it! It's going to be quite a challenge as the products are not something I'm particularly learned about, and I'll have to adopt an entirely new design style to grab the target audience, but it'll keep me busy at least! The position is 8 weeks long with the chance of more if it goes well. I'm looking forward to it, and hope Crown and Glory doesn't suffer as a result. I'll have to get into the habit of scheduling posts!

Anyway, I digress; the point of today's post is the showcase our new Diamonds and Guns Bobby Pin Set. The set is a little different from our usual whimsical, floral route, but I don't think variety is a bad thing! I like to mix-up my style a little, and am always wary of looking overtly 'girly'; for example, I wear my floral headpieces with denim shirts and studded shoes, lace with tough leather and chiffon with studs.

This bobby pin set is a definite testimony to the fact that I only make pieces from Crown and Glory that I'd wear myself; since creating these in the week, I haven't taken them off! I think they work particularly well with a soft, feminine, curly up-do! I'm hoping to get another shoot done while I'm in Newport this coming weekend so hopefully will be able to illustrate that point!

The set comprises of four secure, silvertone bobby pins that are topped with two silvertone pyramid studs and two multi-faceted Swarovski crystals. Four aren't enough to pin up my thick hair so I use six; let me know if you think you'd be the same and I'll sort out a set of six for you!

Kate Moss for Topshop

I'm not sure about you, but I've never been a fan of the Kate Moss for Topshop collections. Probably something to do with the fact that I've never been a huge fan of Kate Moss. Sure, I can appreciate that she's very successful at what she does but my idea of an idol is more than a mere clotheshorse. (Don't burn me at the stake!)

Dutifully though, I have a gander at the collection every time a new one comes along. As ever, the majority of the collection is, for me, unremarkable and overpriced; and some items wouldn't be out of place in Bon Marche! (I'm talking about this skirt in particular! I'm sorry, there is nothing right about that skirt!) However, and for the first time since the collaboration first took place and ditsy print floral tea dresses were hard to come by, a few items have caught my eye. They happen to tie in quite nicely with our new party wear headpieces, as well.

Beaded Waistband Dress, £80, Kate Moss for Topshop
Bronze Beauty Hairclips, £4, Crown and Glory
The Car Key Collection, £12, Models Own
English Oak Mirror Necklace, £27, Tatty Devine
Sakura Glitter Platform Shoes, £62, Topshop

Sequin Playsuit, £90, Kate Moss for Topshop
Cristal Reve Headband, £6, Crown and Glory
Pewter Crystal Snake Bangle, £32, Preshhus
Suedette Laceup Wedge, £29.99, New Look
Skull Slate and Clear Crystal Ring, £22, Preshhus

Crown and Glory Luxe

The Crown and Glory Luxe Collection is focused upon creating one off or limited edition fascinators, combs, crowns and clips. Each piece is entirely unique, and can be made to your specifications. Often pieces are encrusted with Swarovski, pearls and glitter or a combination of the three. The LUXE collection is perfect for the up-coming party season to ensure you stand out in the crowd!

Our new butterfly pairs are an opulant version of our extremely popular Butterfly Duo, and now discontinued Butterfly Headbands and Butterfly Clips. Intricate and delicate, two feather butterflies are encrusted with glitter and Swarovskis and attachaed to secure brasstoned crocodile clips. Butterflies measure 17cm at their widest point.

Currently available in pink, green, teal and cream, but more colours are available on request; email us at crownandglory@hotmail.com with your requirements and we'll see what we can do!
