Bridal Babes - Clare

Bridal BabesBridal Babes

When Clare got in touch in January to request a custom piece for her early March wedding, I couldn't wait to hear more details - 'I'm getting married in a converted barn adorned in fairy lights with all our family and close friends 75 in total,' Claire told me. I love hearing details about our bride-to-be big days but the next piece of info definitely peaked my interest - 'My dress is from Fur Coat No Knickers after I saw it on Rock and Roll Bride! So exciting!!!'

Kat and I were lucky enough to borrow FCNK dresses for our collection shoot so I can hand on heart say I know just how excited Clare was - their frocks are so gorgeous and I felt amazing all day! As coincidence would have it, Clare had chosen the same dress I wore on the shoot, the Bellini, and so we knew straight away which piece to put with it; the Country Garden Fascinator in Wine with the addition of a black birdcage veil. Clare was undecided between two different headpiece styles but I think you'll agree that the 50s styling of this design really lends itself to the Bellini.

Bridal Babes - Ella

Ella Cornish Pastel Wedding

Who's up for a spot of pastel pretty to brighten up dull January? When local girl and Yumi babe Ella got in touch in October to tell me she'd just ordered loads of our Rosie hairclips after seeing Megan's bridesmaids wear them the month before, I couldn't wait to see some snaps of her gorgeous Cornish day!

Her bridesmaids wore loose, curled updos with vintage inspired pastel dresses and a selection of pastel-hued Rosie hairclips to create a laidback feel. Ella told us her 'maids loved the clips because they could wear them again - result!

Bridal Babes - Megan

I'm so excited to finally be able to share this weeks' bridal babe - our very own Megan! Megan knew from the moment her childhood sweetheart, Grant, proposed at the castle at Disneyland that she wanted us to create the headgear for her big day, but she's admitted herself that it took her a long time to decide on a design! "I toyed with the idea of a fairytale crown, glittery roses and more understated bows, but in the end it had to be a dreamy headband full of baby's breath, daisies and splashes of blue in the form of tiny foam roses - I love that it will last forever!"

But it wouldn't be a blogger wedding without a little outfit change! While there was no getting that beautiful princess gown off Megan's back, she always had her heart set on a little glittery crown and donning one for the evening reception seemed the perfect excuse. We crafted a delicate lace base, embossed with super fine and super sparkly glitter and finished with blue Swarovski detailing.

Last but my no means least, Megan asked us to come up with the decorations for her 4 bridesmaids hair, too! As they had mismatched pastel dresses Megan wanted to keep their hair accessories relatively similar but adjustable depending on their desired hairstyle for the day. We created pastel rose clips sets, in 4 sizes and 4 colour ways, that the girls could mix and match to clip into Heidi braids, a messy top knot, a side swept fringe and tumbling curls. As the roses are made of realistic looking foam, it's something the girls can wear everyday and be reminded of the most beautiful Cornish Fairytale.

Bridal Babes - One Love

In ten days time, we'll be packing our bags and heading up to the big smoke to exhibit at the UK's coolest gay wedding show. For those that don't know, One Love is the brainchild of A Most Curious Wedding Fair's Rebecca and ruby+diva's Sara, who joined forces forces to create an environment where same sex couples could be free from any awkwardness they may experience at a traditional wedding show. Each vendor has been hand picked because they are moved and enthused by the need for a same sex marriage to be legally recognised and in turn, a cool and stylish same-sex wedding event. We'll be there with Kat from Rock n Roll Bride, showcasing our Rock/Glory collection and accessorising the catwalk; think bears in glitter bow ties and femme's in floral crowns, oh yay! We've even designed an exclusive product to be launched at the show, all to be revealed soon.

Other exhibitiors include tailors that make suits for both men and women, honeymoon companies that have the insider knowledge of the best getaways for discerning gay couples, an Icelandic wedding destinations company (one of the hippest places in the word right now), bow ties and handkerchiefs in vintage fabrics, florists that use mid century ceramics rather than oasis blocks on mirrored bases (shudder), crafters who allow you to make your own wedding rings, and cake makers who create edible works of art inspired by contemporary design rather than silver bells to name but a few.

One Love will be held at The Hospital Club, London on 19th and 20th October. Tickets can be purchased here. Please do let us know if you intend to pop by!

Bridal Babes - Sama

Every time a bride gets in contact to request a custom order for their wedding day, it makes me glow with pride. But Sama took it to the next level. Not only did she want a custom floral crown to compliment her spicy, Mediterranean colour scheme, but she also wanted to incorporate the vintage ivory wax flower garland her mother wore on her own big day. The pressure was 100% on!

While it was definitely one of the most nerve wracking custom orders I've ever undertaken - who wouldn't be scared of altering a family heirloom?! - but I was very careful to ensure we exchanged plenty of emails during the process - from inspiration to detailed progress shots - and allowed plenty of time for adjustments before the big day. However getting that final feedback from Sama when she received the crown made all the nervous butterflies worthwhile!
"Being a self-proclaimed ‘boho bride’, I knew I was going to wear a flower garland from day one. I’d originally envisioned fresh flowers, but when my Mum produced the wax flower garland she wore on her wedding day, the sentiment of wearing ‘something old’ was too hard to resist. In its original state it was a very thin, delicate crown of ivory flowers, so I enlisted the super-talented and super-lovely Sophie of Crown & Glory to give it a new lease of life. The end result was the most beautiful thing I could have ever imagined, and something I may even be able to pass on myself one day."

I'm getting teary again, so be sure to check out the rest of Sama and Paul's amazing day over at Rock My Wedding.

Autumn Wedding Guest Idea

Autumn Wedding Guest Idea

click the picture to be shown product details

With the wedding of the year fast approaching this weekend, my mind is well and truly in wedding guest attire mode. I love a September wedding because you're usually more likely to get some nice weather for the day, and some beautiful light for photographs too, but the temperature has dramatically dropped this year so my usual choice of some kind of pastel coloured skater dress and wedged sandals is going to leave me out in the cold. I was mentally going through my wardrobe earlier this week and came across a cream lace shift dress that I thought could work with opaques and wedges, but a quick poll on my facebook page regarding whether it was ok to wear cream to a wedding dramatically divided opinion; some, like me, figured that as long as the bride didn't mind, it's fine, whereas some reacted as if I'd asked if it was ok to rock up in a veil and accessorise with a bouquet!

While I'm not someone to dress to appease others' opinion, it's clearly a controversial subject so I shelved the cream shift dress idea - instead settling on this winter floral print dress by Oasis. With its' cream base colour, I'm appeasing my rebellious side but the pattern is colourful enough for it not to turn into bridesmaid territory. Paired with our Whole Lotta Rosie in Burgundy, and my wedding shoe of choice, a wedge - comfy enough for dancing yet still smart. If budget allowed, I'd accessorise with the divine Anya Hindmarch bag - maybe next September!
