Crown and Glory On The Road: A Most Curious Wedding Fair

Most Curious London 07.03.15 - Photo Roberta Matis -91

Earlier on this month, we packed up our sparkly suitcases and headed to the Old Truman Brewery in London for arguably the coolest wedding fair in the UK: A Most Curious Wedding Fair. Aimed at the style-savvy couple, a Most Curious showcases some of the most contemporary wedding suppliers around. Our unique, alternative bridal accessory range that we designed with Rock n Roll Bride was comfortably nestled alongside pretty like beautiful hen-do flair from Oh Squirrel (and not a phallic symbol in sight!), incredible floral displays from Vervain and a fresh and modern take on bridalwear from Velvet Johnstone, to name a few. Here's a peek at our stand for the weekend; and yes, we did leave a trail of confetti wherever we stepped.

Crown and Glory Travels - Good Golly Miss Molly, Exeter

Last week I spent the day in Exeter to celebrate my little bro's graduation. While we were in town we just had to stop by one of our lovely stockists, Good Golly Miss Molly at the McCoy Arcade, Exeter!

Curated by the lovely Cassie Leicester, Good Golly Miss Molly is chock full of hand-crafted loveliness; jewellery, accessories, homewares and more, this little store is a real treasure trove for curious trinkets, nostalgic quirk and handmade cool.

Supporting local and emerging talent and some familiar crafting names, Good Golly Miss Molly oozes charm, excitement and intruige.

Have you stopped by Good Golly Miss Molly's? I'm particularly taken with the above notecards. Too cute!

On The Road.... WWWWBristol!

This Saturday, we had the best time ever at the Weird and Wonderful Wedding World, Bristol. Definitely the kookiest and bravest event we have exhibited at this wedding season, with everything from film set worthy prop hire to a pole dancing unicorn (yes, really, and she was fabulous!) available for punters to consider for their special day. While some stands certainly divided opinion (see aforementioned pole dancing unicorn) I was astounded at how open minded the couples coming through the door were - and we definitely saw some eureka moments happening when they realised that there is life beyond linen chair covers!

Emily and Ali did such a fantastic job with organising the event; in an industry where the latest buzz word is "alternative", they took some brave but well considered decisions to ensure their wedding fair/world/hullabaloo really did stand out from the crowd; having their first ever showcase on a Saturday night, hosting it at a science museum, the star of the fashion show being taxidermy accessories; and yet Emily confided in me towards the end of the evening that she was worried it "wasn't weird enough"! If this is the first offering from the event planning duo then I can't wait to see what these two think up by this time next year, and I certainly hope we'd be invited back again.

I've said it once and I'll say it again; it's events like this that make me love love LOVE my job. I've never been especially good at 'front of house'; I can't do the hard selling that seems appropriate at more traditional wedding fairs, get fidgety sat behind a trestle table and don't even talk to me about adding on extra £££'s when the word "bride" is mentioned. WWWWBristol was like hanging out with my friends - old in the like-minded wedding suppliers that I do the rounds with in the South West, and new in the amazing and enthralling customers I get to meet, either for the first time or with warm, congratulatory hugs when we get to meet again. Quite frankly, we wouldn't work a Saturday night for anything less.

Well what finer way to round up our first 'proper' wedding season than with the Weird and Wonderful Wedding World!

WWWWBristol

Kicking off at 6pm (finally! An evening event so I don't have to get up at 5am!) this Saturday, 13th April - we're looking forward to an evening of fabulousness, based in the amazing At-Bristol Science Museum – a wedding venue with a real WOW factor!
With a free cocktail on arrival for the first 200 guests, you can enjoy the stunning views from the Northside balcony, mixing urban with classic - the modern steel building framing Bristol Cathedral - or enjoy people-watching over Millennium Square and the silver sphere overlooking Bristol to the south.

The show will appeal not only to brides out there looking for something really different, but to quirky couples who want to dress up, have a cocktail or two, listen to local bands, dance or chill out, whilst surrounded by the weirdest and most wonderful wedding suppliers on one floor, making it a great night out. You can enjoy a fashion show under the stars in the Planetarium, watch jugglers, close-up magicians and living statues and, when your man gets tired, send him off to the ‘man creche’ to play on all the interactive science museum exhibits (and, of course, you can have a play too!).

Having over 5 years combined experience in the wedding industry, Emily Fisher from Fishee Designs Photo Booth and Ali Cook from Bristol Vintage (the face behind the successful Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair) have realised that there’s a whole world of wedding suppliers out there who don’t fit into the mainstream and need a showcase for their brilliant talents. Although they both love vintage, there are some amazing alternatives, all standing out from the crowd in their own unique way. Over the years the team have found and met some amazing suppliers and friends and they want to share their combined love of the weird and wonderful wedding world with you!
