With the wedding of the year fast approaching this weekend, my mind is well and truly in wedding guest attire mode. I love a September wedding because you're usually more likely to get some nice weather for the day, and some beautiful light for photographs too, but the temperature has dramatically dropped this year so my usual choice of some kind of pastel coloured skater dress and wedged sandals is going to leave me out in the cold. I was mentally going through my wardrobe earlier this week and came across a cream lace shift dress that I thought could work with opaques and wedges, but a quick poll on my facebook page regarding whether it was ok to wear cream to a wedding dramatically divided opinion; some, like me, figured that as long as the bride didn't mind, it's fine, whereas some reacted as if I'd asked if it was ok to rock up in a veil and accessorise with a bouquet!
While I'm not someone to dress to appease others' opinion, it's clearly a controversial subject so I shelved the cream shift dress idea - instead settling on this winter floral print dress by Oasis. With its' cream base colour, I'm appeasing my rebellious side but the pattern is colourful enough for it not to turn into bridesmaid territory. Paired with our Whole Lotta Rosie in Burgundy, and my wedding shoe of choice, a wedge - comfy enough for dancing yet still smart. If budget allowed, I'd accessorise with the divine Anya Hindmarch bag - maybe next September!
