A few weeks ago I was granted the pleasure of spending a Sunday mooching around on of my favourite cities in the UK with some of my favourite blogger babes - spoilt or what!
Hosted by the lovely ladies at Bath in Fashion, our fun filled day started off at Bath's Fashion museum - did you guys know that Bath is one of the hotspots for fashion in the UK?! Despite being 'in the industry' I ashamedly had no idea this place existed and my, what a treat the current collections are.
'Dress of the Year' is an the exhibition that collates the most notable outfit of the year, chosen by a notable individual in the fashion industry. For example, the dress for 2011 was chosen from Sarah Burton’s landmark collection for Alexander McQueen, by Hamish Bowles, International Editor-at-Large for US Vogue.. My nose was genuinely pressed against the glass like a fascinated child while admiring the intricacy of this beautiful creation. And did you know, that this part of the McQueen collection for 2011, was created as a shroud for The Big Dress?! An entire collection! All that work, just to keep the royal wedding dress a secret! Mind = blown.
Also on show until the end of 2013 is 'Fifty Fabulous Frocks'; showcasing some of the most glamourous dresses from eras gone by. I fell in love with this '50s inspired outfit - I'd totally wear it now! It was fun to go around and think up reasons for wearing some of the couture - how about this Erdem number for pegging out your washing? Or this Chanel number to pop out in for a pint of milk? Just imagine if your wardrobe looked like this…
Whilst the Bath Fashion Museum is open all year round, Bath in Fashion are hosting a week of catwalk shows, talks from industry insiders and workshops - just like the London Fashion Week we all know and love. Running from 15th to 21st April 2013 there are catwalk shows from top LFW directors and designers, talks by Rouland Mouret and Sasha Wilkins' LibertyLondonGirl and even a Celebrity It Bag auction!
We're promised that Bath in Fashion is going to be the latest fashion week on the nation's radar.
I live 20 mins from Bath, have done all my life, and had NO idea about Bath in Fashion. Crazy! x
